Fareham Borough Council confirmed on 2 October 2026 that a by-election will take place in the Portchester Wicor ward.

The vacancy arose after Councillor Robert Turner resigned with effect from Thursday 1 October 2026. The council said a formal Notice of Vacancy was published and that it then received the required request from two electors for an election to be held.

When the vote will happen

The Returning Officer has confirmed that the by-election will be held on Thursday 19 November 2026. The count will take place overnight after the polls close.

The council's announcement does not name candidates, polling stations or deadlines for registering to vote, and none are given here. Those details are expected to be published by the council as the election approaches.
